As we get older, our Christmas lists change, but not always because we’ve become more mature — often just more complicated. We’re tossed around by the world’s wants and worries just as much as kids, even though Ephesians 4:15 reminds us we’re meant to grow up to be like Jesus, who has already given us everything we need. Like forgotten toys in a closet, adults overlook the gifts God has already provided — peace, hope, joy, love, and above all, Jesus. Thanksgiving calls us to be grateful for what we have, yet Christmas tempts us to wish for what we don’t, when it should really be about receiving and remembering God’s gifts.
